Synopsis
Welcome to 1876 and a rootin'-tootin' America bursting with gunslingers, outlaws and garou.
Jane
Calamity's her name, and garou hunting's her game- when she's not starring in Wild Bill's Traveling Show, that is. She reckons that if a girl wants to be a legend, she should just go ahead and be one.
Frank
Frank "the Pistol Prince" Butler is the Wild West's #1 bachelor. He's also the best sharpshooter on both sides of the Mississippi, but he's about to meet his match . . .
Annie
Annie Oakley (yep that Annie) is lookin' for a job, not a romance, but she can't deny there's something about Frank she likes. Really likes. Still, she's pretty sure that anything he can do, she can do better.
A Hairy Situation
After a garou hunt goes south and Jane finds a suspicious-like bite on her arm, she turns tail for Deadwood, where there's been talk of a garou cure. But things ain't always what they seem- meaning the gang better hightail it after her before they're a day late and a Jane short.

Loved
Loved
- The Wild West feel! This was such a ride being in the Wild West with gunslingers, outlaws, and the garou (basically werewolves). I loved the feel of the Wild West- with bars, saloons, traveling shows, and gunfights. It was the perfect setting for the crew's gunslinging adventures.
- The narrators. I've talked about this in all my reviews of this series, but the authors/narrators are what make these stories. The way they tell the story is so believable because they point out all the odd things happening and the flaws in the characters' thinking- which makes it so funny. They are so witty and self-aware and hide fun references to other stories. These Lady Janies could write a manual for observing cockroaches and I would still be in stitches over it! I will officially read anything they write.
- The characters. My other favorite thing about these books is the lovable and relatable characters. These famous characters- Calamity Jane, Wild Bill, Frank Butler, and Annie Oakley suddenly stop being names in a textbook and become real people with dreams, problems, and senses of humor. I especially loved Jane's character because she was strong and plucky, but so quirky and odd. I'd like to believe the real Calamity Jane was the same way.
- The history. I went into this not expecting any history, just entertainment. However, after doing research, I realized there was quite a bit of truth to the history behind these characters! Obviously it was very embellished, but I was surprised at how many little things were actually true. I also loved the twist of magic by adding garou, which are humans who turn into wolves. That fantasy element really put the wild in this Wild West adventure.
Didn't Love
- I didn't love this quite as much as the other books, but I had a hard time figuring out the reason. I realized after finishing the book that the plot seemed a little disjointed and the garou hunting was a bit confusing at times. Since the chapters change perspectives (which I overall enjoyed), it sometimes felt like the plot regressed as other characters caught up with what was happening and learned new information. I really like this in other stories, but this plot just seemed a little patched together. However, I still completely enjoyed myself reading it and I can't wait to read it again :)

Overall Thoughts
This book was everything I hoped for- an exciting, wild adventure through the Wild West with lovable characters and a dash of romance. The Wild West feel was so fun and created the perfect setting for this quirky gang and their adventures. The narrators brought their A game once again with their hilarious commentary and storytelling. I didn't enjoy this one *quite* as much as the other Lady Janie books, but I still had so much fun reading it and will definitely read it again. If you enjoyed the other Lady Janie books, definitely pick this one up and just try to make it through a chapter without laughing out loud ;)
